Sandy Wax, Co Founder

Sandy Wax is an accomplished media executive with 30 years experience leading strategy and operations to build and transform growth initiatives within entertainment companies including NBCUniversal, Disney, Comcast, and Discovery. Sandy is a dynamic and forward-thinking content strategist with a track record of building brands and innovating new program formats in multiple genres, from soaps to non-fiction to kids and family.

As President of Sprout, Sandy launched and built Comcast’s kids and family business, carving out a unique brand identity in a highly competitive landscape. She led the transformation of Sprout from a library service to an acclaimed originals-driven brand with 1.8 billion on demand views. Prior to Sprout, Sandy led programming strategy, acquisitions and operations for Disney ABC Cable’s time-shifted daytime drama channel. She also served as SVP Brand Strategy and Research for Disney Channel, playing a pivotal role in driving franchise development for original TV series and films.

Sandy’s early career in consumer research fuels her deep desire to understand human needs and motivations in order to innovate compelling new program concepts and formats. This intense curiosity paired with her thirst for innovation form the foundation of Sandy’s approach to building brands, developing strategy and driving results. After a stint as COO of a high-growth market research firm which doubled in size under her watch, she partnered with Vinny Gabriele to launch WAXON Group.

Sandy is an active member of Common Sense Media’s LA Advisory Council and has recently served as Chief Strategy Advisor for UCLA’s Center for Scholars & Storytellers. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and Master of Business Administration in marketing from Loyola University in Maryland.

Vinny Gabriele, Co Founder

Entrepreneurial media strategist.

Vinny Gabriele is an experienced media professional with a 20 year track record in media, corporate strategy and financial analysis and planning. His tenure at NBCUniversal, Sprout and NFL is marked by his passion for identifying and sizing opportunities that generate new revenue streams, developing new strategic partnerships and optimizing production and distribution models. Vinny’s business acumen has contributed to the success of a number of investment and growth initiatives in sectors including kids and family, sports, and general entertainment.

With a unique grasp of both big picture strategy and operational realities, Vinny has a sharp vision of where white space opportunities can be created in the changing media production and distribution landscape. As Co-Founder of WAXON Group, Vinny advises several studios and media companies on content and distribution strategy for terrestrial, SVOD, FAST and digital platforms.

In prior roles at NBCUniversal, Vinny led initiatives within the Entertainment Cable division’s Strategy team with an emphasis on evaluating strategic priorities and assessing critical investment opportunities. As CFO of Sprout, Vinny was a key architect in the platform’s transformation, both overseeing all financial reporting and analysis and negotiating coproduction deals with international prodcos and studios

Vinny’s early career in finance at NFL and PricewaterhouseCoopers forged his commitment to integrating forward-looking business strategy with ongoing financial analysis and planning. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting/ Corp Finance from Muhlenberg College and a Master of Business Administration from Northeastern University. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Collier School Foundation, a non-profit focused on helping disadvantaged kids in New Jersey.
